Remote Engagement for Residential Curriculum

As we shift from crisis management to the long-term engagement and learning for students, residential life staff are rethinking how we engage students in this new reality. How do we shift our intended residential curriculum engagement from floors, bulletin boards, lounges, and buildings to Zoom, Twitch, streaming, Canvas, Blackboard, Moodle, and more?

Several years ago, I got to work with Residential Education staff at the University of Southern Florida as they developed their residential curriculum. Since then they have hosted the ACPA Residential Curriculum Institute (now Institute on the Curricular Approach) and been a showcase numerous times. The team there started thinking about this shift to online and remote engagement before many of the rest of us. They have already been implementing their new approach for more than 2 weeks. They call it Bulls in the Cloud. Thanks to Corey Johnson, Brandi Crews, and Michael Prosia for sharing how they thought about this shift, some of the details of what they are doing, and many lessons learned from their hits and misses, so far.
