From Campus Roles to Independent Work

Many faculty and staff are considering expanding their impact beyond their current campus, sharing their expertise more broadly, finding greater flexibility, or aligning their work more closely with their values. Whether you’re exploring a side hustle, transitioning to full-time independent work, or seeking smarter ways to run your practice, this session will help you imagine what’s possible, avoid common pitfalls, and move forward strategically.

Engagement Pathways

Step 1: Free Workshop → Step 2: Sprint → Step 3: Runway → Step 4: Coaching

  1. Free Workshop: A free and accessible way to begin to explore your path and see if the next steps are right for you.
  2. Sprint: A four-session foundation for launching your independent work with clarity, confidence, competence, and conviction.
  3. Runway: A deeper, group coaching experience to help you apply what we cover in the Sprint in your practice.
  4. Coaching: Individual and confidential support through the Runway to tailor strategies to your specific circumstances.

Benefits

Participants will leave with clarity about what’s right for them, confidence that they can do this, competence to run a smart and sustainable practice, and conviction to move forward.

Clarity
“I’m just not sure if this is right for me.” Good. This isn’t the right move for everyone, but it might be the right move for you. This experience will help you move from an idea you ponder on the tough days to a real-life test case you can explore thoroughly and decide if this is the right move for you (or not) and how you want to make it.

Confidence
“This is too risky. I’m too afraid to make the leap.” Making a smart transition can help reduce the risk and put the fear into perspective. By making smart choices with guidance from an experienced leader and learning from others’ journeys, you can make this a wise move for you and those who depend on you.

Competence
“I’m not sure I can run my own business.” You don’t need an MBA to run a simple solo practice. In fact, keeping it simple, streamlined, and efficient will allow you to focus on serving and living a life even more aligned with your values.

Conviction
“I hate selling anything, especially myself.” None of us wants to be a shady influencer posting pictures of every meal we have on Instagram. In fact, doing so will undermine your brand and positioning. You can make the move with integrity and authenticity, partnering with people and organizations to expand your impact. When this is your belief and focus, not inviting people to work with you feels out of alignment.

Outcomes

  • Explore a side hustle to supplement your campus role or move to full-time independent work.
